Interleukin-12 (IL-12) was identified as a factor secreted by human Epstein-Barr (EBV)-transformed B cell lines. IL-12 is produced predominantly by monocytes and NK cells. Human IL-12 is not active on mouse cells, but murine IL-12 is active on both murine and human lymphocytes.

Akron’s cGMP Cytokines are manufactured, tested and released in compliance with relevant cGMP guidelines. USP Chapter ‹1043› “Ancillary materials for cell, gene and tissue-engineered products” has been followed in the design of these products.
The biological activity of recombinant human IL-12 was measured by its ability to stimulate the proliferation of PHA-activated human T lymphoblasts. IL-12 has anti-angiogenic properties. Recombinant Human Interleukin-12 is a glycosylated disulfide linked heterodimeric polypeptide that contains 503 amino acids and has a molecular weight of 75 kDa. It is comprised of disulfide-bonded 35 kDa (p35) and 40 kDa (p40) subunits. rHu IL-12 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
